Starbucks Worldwide

So I'm sitting in a Starbucks in Barcelona, connected to the internet for free after not being able to since I left Los Angeles. The hostel that's renting me a room is just down the street so I'm having a run of good fortune. I guess this makes up for the shower being so small that the my belly hits the water faucet while my backside hits the shower curtain.

While wandering around Boston for ten hours, I noticed the peculiar, small differences in people's personalities. Directness, bluntness, to the point of borderline rudeness from my west-coast eyes, seemed the norm. Let me make my disclaimer. Ten hours is not enough time familiarize a city and only first impressions can be made.

My favorite activity while visiting new places is to wander around and ask directions. I'll choose any destination that seems appropriate and ask different people how to get there. Today in Barcelona, I asked two little old women where a hospital was to get my last immunization. They proceeded to ask me what kind of vaccine I needed and walked with me to the Center of Tropical Medicine. It took us about fifteen minutes or so for these two sisters and I to make it there. Meanwhile, they would tell me about the different buildings we passed by and make polite conversation about their lives and the weather.
